8 IMPORTANT TOPICS:

TO FORM A SENTENCE IN ENGLISH YOU MUST KNOW WHAT IS THE FORMULA TO THE SENTENCE AND WHAT ELEMENTS ARE USED IN THAT SENTENCE TO BUILD SENTENCES:

1. Subject

A subject is the person or thing performing the action in a sentence.

Examples:

  • John plays football.

  • The cat is sleeping.

💡 The subject usually comes before the verb in a sentence.

2. Verb

A verb expresses an action or a state of being.

Examples:

  • She runs every morning.

  • They are happy.

💡 Verbs are important because they tell us what the subject is doing.

3. Object

The object receives the action of the verb.

Examples:

  • She reads a book.

  • He bought a car.

💡 The object usually comes after the verb in a sentence.

4. Adjective

An adjective describes a noun or pronoun.

Examples:

  • She has beautiful eyes.

  • The tall boy won the race.

💡 Adjectives make your sentences more descriptive and interesting.

5. Adverb

An adverb describes a verb, an adjective, or another adverb.

Examples:

  • He speaks fluently.

  • She runs very fast.

💡 Many adverbs end in -ly, but not all.

6. Conjunction

A conjunction connects words, phrases, or clauses.

Examples:

  • I like tea and coffee.

  • She was late because of the traffic.

💡 Common conjunctions include and, but, because, or, so, yet, although.

7. Pronoun

A pronoun replaces a noun to avoid repetition.

Examples:

  • He is my best friend.

  • They went to the market.

💡 Common pronouns: he, she, it, they, we, you, I.

8. Preposition

A preposition shows the relationship between a noun (or pronoun) and another word in the sentence.
